Our Focus
Teachers at Yoga North are committed to your systematic development in postures, breath, meditation, and towards the goal of knowing yourself. Likewise, a quiet reflective space for this self-study and exploration is essential—and one our Studio provides.
Located in Duluth, Minnesota, Yoga North–known for our Teacher Training and Yoga Therapy Certification programs– draws on unique techniques based on the Yamas & Niyamas and a progressive approach to classic yoga using somatics, therapeutic yoga and bridging these techniques back to classic postures/asana.
We provide classes in a variety of styles including Somatics, SomaYoga, Therapeutic yoga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini, Restorative, Yin, and Ayurveda, as well as a number of specialized classes and workshops on yogic thought and eastern philosophy. With more than 20 weekly classes and over a dozen instructors, there is a class to serve everyone– from pain resolution to athletic performance.
The Yamas & Niyamas
Many guides to ethical conduct may leave us feeling overwhelmed with concepts, or boxed in by rule sets. But Yoga’s guidelines do not limit us from living life. Rather, they begin to open life up to us more and more fully, and they flow easily into one another in ways that are practical and easy to grasp.
Somatics and SomaYoga
Moving from Pain Resolution to Athletic Performance. Somatics is a system of neuromuscular retraining which goes directly to the source of many musculoskeletal problems by reorganizing the way your nervous system controls and senses muscles and movement.
Therapeutic and Classic Yoga
Yoga North has developed a methodology of teaching poses following the principles of recovering and sustaining functional movement and celebrating that freedom with classic asana. Our Studio has an excellent track record of supporting students to progress responsibly from pain resolution to athletic performance.
