Yoga North’s 2008-2009 Featured Study: The Bhagavad-Gita

One of the most beloved books of all times, the Bhagavad-Gita speaks to the reality of everyday life.  Set in the context of a battlefield, it holds new inspiring ways to address our fears and failures, shows us how to know the right thing to do, and how to find God in our daily actions.

This morning’s workshop will help you delve deeper into understanding the pieces that make up the core, the yoga asanas that help engage the core, and other muscles that hinder its true stabilizing nature.  Based on the work by Susi Hatley Aldous and Suzette O’Bryne.  Truly eye opening! Breath

Skillful breathing supports a healthy nervous system, a quiet mind, and clear decision making.  Breath is the glue that makes the body-mind-spirit connection possible.  In this workshop, you will be exposed to the philosophy and physiology of breath, as well as different types of breath and their effects.   Experiential, informative, and fun.   (Deborah Adele)

The Art of Slowing Down

Dive into the newly released book by Susi Hatley Aldous and Leo Mowry, Advancing Your Yoga Practice, the Art of Slowing Down.  We will take a classic yoga pose(downward facing dog) and explore it with the knowledge of anatomy.  These new tools will support your body’s opening and stabilizing thus creating more functionality and freedom in the pose.  Perfect for those who want to explore their own pose and/or for those who teach and want to support othrs with their downward facing dog.

Chakras are a yogic concept describing the metaphysical centers of consciousness, transformation, connection and communication.  An understanding of these energy centers helps us unveil the design, pattern, and intelligence of our being.  Take time to explore what each of the main chakra centers is responsible for in your life and the stories that you have created to manage each center.  Self-revealing and liberating.  This workshop is a requirement for those wishing to attend this year’s 7-month study on the chakra system.
