History

We have rented space from St. Michael’s Elementary School since our inception in 1995. We feel grateful to the school for their ongoing support and enjoy the symbiotic relationship we have with them.

The studio is in the oldest section of the school, the original school building section (around 110 years old). Yoga North’s studio atmosphere of peace, enchantment and warmth must be the result of a century of learning combined with fifteen years of practicing yoga.

Yoga North Timeline

Summer 1995	Yoga North becomes a thought in the minds of founders Joie Acheson & Pat Nolin
October 1995	1st class taught in the Lake room at Yoga North (4628 Pitt St) with six people attending
March 1996	Yoga North officially registered with the state of Minnesota
March 1999	Deborah Adele steps in as co-Director after Pat Nolin moves on
December 2001	Ann Maxwell steps in as co-Director with Deborah Adele after Joie Acheson takes teaching position elsewhere
	Vision, Mission, Purpose and values; First website created
September 2004	1st Teacher Training (TT200) group started with 14 students
March 2008	1st advanced Teacher Training (TT500) group
November 2008	2nd studio room (Lotus room) opened
September 2010	Began Yoga “Way Up” North in Ely Minnesota
