Making a Change for Good-Develop a personal practice with compassionate self discipline

How do we break "bad habits" and start good ones, whether it is in the realm of exercise, eating, shopping, or committing ourselves to a spiritual practice such as meditation or a daily home practice of yoga? We have all been led to believe that if we were only a little better in some way, we would find happiness. We are always thinking, "Life isn't the way it should be- and it's my fault!" But no amount of self-punishment will ever make us happy or bring us control over life's problems. The happiness and peace we are looking for is ultimately found only in self-acceptance and kindness.

Making a Change for Good encourages us to focus on what is true for us in this moment so that our experience can be authentic, awake, honest, and joyful.

This 30 day challenge will include daily home study from Making a Change For Good -A Guide to Compassionate Self-Discipline By Cheri Huber, contemplation, journaling, as well as weekly classes with discussion, relaxation, meditation and more.

30 Days of Deep Relaxation

Bring your body into balance. Reduce your everyday stress levels, boost your feelings of wellbeing, build deeper awareness and bolster your health.

In the state of deep relaxation, tension is released from the body on a physical level, and the mind completely switches off. The relaxation response brings your system into balance. When practiced regularly, you will reduce your everyday stress levels and boost your feelings of wellbeing. You will also build deeper awareness and bolster your health with deep relaxation.

Class will consist of a variety of relaxation techniques including guided meditation & imagery, breathwork, and restorative postures.

Join Sara Duke for this unique 30 Day "Challenge" to bring ease to your body, mind and spirit.

  • Drink at least 16 oz., preferably 32 oz, green smoothie each day for 30 days, preferably for breakfast.
  • Participation in a personal wellness survey at the beginning and end of Challenge.
  • Read selections from the book Green For Life by Victoria Boutenko.
  • Attend the four Monday meetings with your Green Smoothie Challenge Group.
  • That's it! You don't need to commit to changing anything else!

    If you are looking for even more challenge and results, add one or more of the following things:

  • Add Daily physical activity. Take a hike! No seriously, hiking is great exercise and always a scenic and beautiful event here in Duluth. Come to a yoga class here at Yoga North or start a home practice. Work out at a gym with weights, on a bike or even swimming. IF none of that sounds good, just go dancing with friends.
  • Drink more than one green smoothie a day.
  • Add a green leafy salad to one of your other meals
  • Commit to watching your food patterns for the week before the challenge and see what food has you "hooked". Then during the challenge give that food up!
  • Stop drinking sodas and prepared sugar beverages.
  • Decrease your intake of white sugar or cut it out entirely.
